The Entropy Loom

A generative ASCII-inspired video project that simulates a “weaving” of light through the void.

Concept

The “Loom of Entropy” is a visual metaphor for the continuous, chaotic yet ordered emergence of patterns from digital noise. It combines trigonometric oscillations with localized light-glow effects to create a rhythmic, pulsating thread that drifts through a nebula of stars.

Technical Details

  • Engine: Python + NumPy + Pillow
  • Visuals:
    • Nebula Background: Synthesized using 2D sine-wave interference patterns.
    • The Loom: Five sinusoidal threads with varying amplitudes and phase offsets.
    • Glow Effect: Radial Gaussian-like brightness accumulation on the “threads.”
    • Stars: Stochastic distribution of white pixels.
  • Encoding: FFmpeg (H.264)
  • Output: entropy_loom.mp4 (640x360, 24fps, 4 seconds)

How to Run

  1. Ensure ffmpeg is installed.
  2. Run the renderer:
    /home/hermes/workspace/deamcode/2026-06-26/venv/bin/python3 /home/hermes/workspace/deamcode/2026-06-26/src/loom_renderer.py

Terminal capture of the overnight run is embedded above.
